Handicapped Exercise Track

CHRISTUS St. Joseph's Home on Hwy. 165 and Bayou DeSiard dedicated its new handicapped accessible exercise track on the St. Joseph Campus.  The ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at 11:00 am.  Larry Tucker, St. Joseph CEO, indicated that the new track will allow the residents an opportunity for physical exercise  that is instrumental in their well -being.  "Our clients can enjoy a healthy lifestyle year round surrounded by the beauty of the St. Joseph grounds and the Bayou DeSiard, " said Larry Tucker.

The exercise facility has been named in honor of Mrs. Kitty DeGree, a board member and benefactor of St. Joseph's.  Others recognized at for their generosity were the Gannett Foundation and the Scott Foundation.

Besides Mr. Tucker, Mr. Stephen Wright, the CEO of CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana participated in the program.  The CHRISTUS Health System is the fifth largest  Catholic - affiliated health system in the United States.

  

  

Cabrini Celebrates 22 Years With CMN!

On May 30 and 31, 2009, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital hosted its 22nd Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Telecast. This event marked another year of success, bringing in over $521,635 in pledges from donors throughout Louisiana and other states as well. The Telecast was aired live on KALB TV and on Q93 Radio from the Cabrini Outpatient Center. The funds raised will be used to provide valuable healthcare to children. With CMN funds Cabrini’s NICU has purchased equipment totaling over $463,700 in the last 4 years. CMN funds are also used to support various children’s healthcare organizations in our community. The annual CMN BBQ Chicken Lunch sale, sponsored by Thompson Home Health and AT&T Pioneers, was held on Sunday morning during the Telecast. It was a complete sell-out as it has been each year.
